Christmas at our house

Click here to watch Piper discover the big present Santa brought for her.

Christmas!

Sorry I've taken so long to post these pictures; Piper and I have been sick with the stomach virus. Thankfully, Josh hasn't caught it yet. We're still crossing our fingers that he stays well.

Our Christmas celebrations were a whirlwind of excitement and presents. Piper survived multiple days without good naps and being shuffled around from place to place so we could see all our family. Unfortunately, I forgot to get the pictures off my dad's camera. The ones from mine will have to do. I also have some videos to post when I have more time (and energy!).

Our celebrations began on the Thursday before Christmas with presents at my parents house with Corey and Brenden's families.

Grandad was still here from Florida!

Piper really liked Lyndie's toys. We spent a good deal of time trying to teach them how to share.

Christmas smiles!

One of the presents from my mom and dad is this little table and chairs. They even painted it to match her room!

Mom got these silly headbands for Piper and Gramps. We think they look best on him!
Christmas morning was full of lots of noise-making toys.

We love our Christmas pups!

We had another celebration with Pap on Christmas night.

Clapping with Gramps

Our final stop was with Josh's grandparents. By this time, Piper had figured out this whole presents thing.

Shhhhhhh.....Don't tell Piper that she actually saw Santa (aka Josh's grandfather) after Christmas this year.

Santa Baby

Christmas came early for Piper tonight. Santa knew that we would be traveling later this week and wouldn't have room to bring back all her loot with us, so he stopped by and left her presents. Don't worry, she'll still have her stocking gifts to open on Christmas day. Santa knew Piper loves smocked clothes and Scottie dogs :-).

Real Food!

As I alluded in my post yesterday, Piper is enjoying feeding herself more and more these days. Most meals I give her something to feed herself while I spoon feed the nutritional stuff. But tonight I decided to give her entire meal in solid form to see what she did with it. I had cooked a beef pot roast in the crock pot with onions, potatoes, and carrots. She seemed to like all of it, especially the meat.
This picture was taken at the end of the meal. I'm not exactly sure how much food she ate, but she sure moved it around!

Double Digits!

Piper is 10 months old! I can't believe that it's time to start thinking about her 1st birthday party. I guess I should probably get through Christmas first...

Piper likes: mimicking us when we laugh, cough, chew, swallow, etc., feeding herself (this is challenging for all involved), crusing around on the furniture, climbing the stairs, all dogs she sees, her THREE teeth!, yogurt and cheese (yes, she's tolerating dairy foods!), dancing to all kinds of music, the Christmas tree, pushing around empty rubbermaid totes, "typing" on the computer (it's impossible to do anything on the computer when Piper is in the same room), pushing any buttons she can find, emptying the drawers in the kitchen, "reading" books, brushing her teeth, airplane rides, jingle bells, kicking off her shoes and socks, her lovey

Piper dislikes: being told "no" (we have a little drama queen on our hands), the gate at the bottom of the stairs, being made to walk around while holding onto Mommy or Daddy's hands, being bundled up, getting out of the bath, being contained/restrained, getting her diaper changed before she nurses in the morning, when Mommy wipes her nose, crawling in a dress

She is more fun each day. I cannot wait to celebrate Christmas with her this week!

Florida in December

My dad, Piper, and I traveled to Fort Myers, Florida, this past weekend for my baby cousin Lara's wedding. It was so nice to get warm for a while, but it made coming home to these frigid conditions even harder! We had such a good time there visiting with family. Piper was a perfect baby while on the plane and when we were out so many nights past her bedtime. It helped that her Gramps was willing to take her any time she needed a distraction.

On the plane!

She was obsessed with clearing out the seat back pockets.

It's a good thing we have Piper to read us the safety information!

Suitcases are so much fun...

...until you pull it closed on yourself.
Sadly, this was the only picture I got of the gorgeous bride.

Gramps kept Piper occupied with puffs during the ceremony. She was perfect!

The groom's father is the CFO of 1-800-flowers. As you can imagine, the flowers at this wedding were the most amazing I have ever seen. It looked like a celebrity wedding--seriously. These pictures do not even begin to do it justice.

Piper loved spending time with her cousin, Lillia. She is the daughter of my first cousin, Rachel, the sister of the bride. Because Lillia lives in Fort Myers, too, we hadn't spent much time together before this weekend. She is precious and will make such a good big sister someday!

This poor baby was exhausted by the end of the night. She had fallen asleep in my arms, so I gave her to my dad to keep her that way. He headed out of the ballroom into the lobby right outside. This was what I found when I checked on them about 15 minutes later. He didn't see anything wrong with letting her sleep on a table! She looks precariously close to the edge, but Gramps was closeby the whole time.
