Happy Halloween! Part 2

Josh and I took our little ballerina trick-or-treating last night!  We went to the same neighborhood and with the same group of friends with whom we went last year.  Our total group consisted of six children, all under the age of three!  Piper caught on quickly and wasn't the least bit hesitant about approaching people for candy, although she definitely preferred to put the candy in her bucket herself instead of letting someone else do it.  She was a trooper and insisted on walking the entire time.  We only carried her when she was falling behind the older kids.

The families (read: the adults) in this neighborhood go all-out for Halloween: decorating, dressing up, and even tailgating for the holiday evening.  I thought Piper might be afraid of some of the decorations and gruesome make-up, but she wasn't fazed at all.  She loved spotting the ghosts and saying "Boooooo!" as we passed them in people's yards.
This little ballerina would have rather been a football player for Halloween.  We had to pry the ball out of her hands to get out the door for trick-or-treating.

Isn't her tu-tu just the cutest?  Piper's aunt Tisha made it for her!

Ready to go out!

Nana was able to come with us!

Hmmmmm....what is all this stuff?

There were two cats inside this house that caught Piper's attention.  After getting her candy, she proceeded to march into the foyer to get a better look at the cats!

Trick or treat!

Josh had a late day at work and showed up way overdressed for trick-or-treating.  We joked that he was dressed up as the 1%.

Momma and her sweet pea!

Happy Halloween! Part 1

Piper had a wonderful weekend leading up to Halloween!  We had lots of family in town for the Titans/Colts game on Sunday, including cousin Ian.  We took the kids to Gouls at Grassmere (the Nashville Zoo) on Saturday night for a trick-or-treating adventure.

Piper the ballerina and Ian the pirate

Ready to trick or treat with Nana!
Then on Sunday evening, Josh and I helped Piper carve her pumpkin.  Those fancy stencils you can use to make professional-looking carved pumpkins are neat, but I like to create something that looks like a real part of our lives (click here to see Piper's pumpkin from last year).  Can you see the resemblance this year???

Too much fun!

This picture pretty much sums up these cousins' relationship. Piper loves laughing at Ian!

Halloween preview

Tonight Piper and I went to the zoo's annual trick or treat party. And since Ian, Sarah Beth, and Nana are visiting, they came along, too! Here are the kids before we left.

It should come as no surprise...

...that Piper loves music.  It is definitely in her genes, and she has been surrounded by it since before she was born.  These pictures were taken by a church friend during praise band practice and after church that day.  Piper loves to play around on all of the instruments, and she's learning about the microphone, too.  We are blessed to have a church family that loves Piper, as you can see!
